Weyy... heyyy.......Thanks Chris
I think that everyone who runs in general is suberb & deserves accolade, from the first to the last......
Moving on to today.... or gliding along smoothly with my new Rowenta Steamliner..............Rocket Rod who is the organiser of the famous Langdale Half Marathon actually thanked us today at the start of the Haweswater Half for ironing his Langdale Half Marathon T-shirt on national TV. He has watched it 6 times & he is in awe of it & thinks it is brilliant (I just laughed).
Well done to all who raced today. Well done to Sarah Holden who did her first half marathon today too.
Jim T & Rob Johnson did the Liverpool Half today & Jim was interviewed by Radio Merseyside cos he was wearing his new black & yellow socks & he texted me to say that he hoped that he wasn't bringing the club into disrepute by wearing them!!!!

Good to see Linda and Gaz still having fun! I hope the 'extreme' publicity hasn't put you off any more mad ideas? I think you are great! Even my mum emailed to tell me about you both on the telly! You are welcome to extreme iron downunder any time you like.......I'll save all Neil's shirts especially for you! Keep up that enthusiasm for life.....and good luck in the marathon too!

I am concerned about who the Dasher is that expressed their concern on the Telegraph site as I wish they felt they could talk to the committee about any concerns. But they are entitled to their opinion no matter how much we all disagree and I think keeping this going is not going to help anyone.
I think what Gary and Linda did was just good fun and did nothing to harm the club.
Lets all just rise above this, let it drop, and prove ourselves a proud club that caters for everyone (serious runners and fun lovers alike).

We all seem to be asuming the comments were really posted by a Dasher. The internet is full of people pretending to be someone else.
It reminds me of the lovely young lady I arranged to meet who turned out to be an old bloke in a nursing home..... But that's another story.

This is an article from south Yorkshire TV and I was wondering if this guy embarrassed his club like we are being made to feel like. Before this gets taken any further and things start to fall apart club wise just take it for what it was meant to be as a bit of fun. I have spoken to ex member who originally formed the club and he thought it was great to see the club still going along in the spirit in which it was originally formed and that is why many of us decided to join in the first place. Also a lot of my customers have been very complimentary about the articles and the media coverage and high lighting not only the club but the town as well, a lot think it has been a refreshing change to what they usually see or read, Ive had old dear's ringing up just to ask me about it and that they had seen us, nothing to do with work.
Some of the banter we had with some runners from other clubs on Sunday was very light hearted and does not looked to affected the club in any way in fact I think it has had the opposite effect.
extreme ironing
unfortunatly i cannot get a pic of the guy on to this piece but it can be seen on bbc south yorkshires web site under features/extreme_ironing
Martin Bacon of Sheffield Hallam's Fell Walking and Mountaineering Club, ironing above Park Square roundabout
But now there's a whole new leisure movement dedicated to livening this tedious chore up.
Is this ironing? Yes, it is. Is this extreme ironing? No.
It's called Extreme Ironing. And it's taking South Yorkshire by storm.
Extreme Ironing afficionados get their kicks by ironing in the open air - and the more outlandish the environment, the better.
Mountains, rivers, tall buildings, mineshafts... no location is unsuitable for a quick spot of ironing.
The benefits of the pursuit are clear. Good exercise. A sense of exhilaration. And really, really smart clothes.
It wont be the extreme ironing that will be the our downfall it will be the people taking notice of the minority of negative criticism (which may be people who just like to start a debate and stir a few things and have nothing to do with running clubs or running at all and have now stopped posting things once they have got the ball rolling) and not the majority of positves that are coming from it

Hi Linda,
The "fiasco" I refer to is to how all of this whole thing had grown seriously out of proportion and was not detrimental to either your good self or Gary in any way at all who at the end of the day were just having a laugh!
I did not even know there was a runners forum on the Telegraph website until you added the link above but when we saw it both Denise and I were astounded not to mention shocked at the responses.
My personal concern is the good name of our fine running club and it's fantastic reputation to which many good people including yourself and Gary have worked long and hard to establish.
It was painful to see one of our own members feel the need to air their views in public (so to speak) when really they should have contacted a committee member ot at least submit their dissaproval in writing to the club secretary. This did not promote the club in a good way but was not your or Gary's doing, it was just sad to see, that's all.
I think it is best now just to let it run it's course and die a death so to speak.
Cheers
Shane
